Who visits Orlando, Florida without visiting at least one amusement park, especially when you have a child and their
birthday is in a less than two weeks? No one. I mean unless you don’t like
having fun you will do that, but that’s not us.
So off to Winter Haven in the Inferno Red Kia Soul ! we went. In just 45
minutes we arrived at LEGOLAND Florida just as soon as they opened.
Upon entering the 150-acre interactive theme park, we were
met by a huge LEGO ‘Welcome’ sign with the LEGOLAND Resort to the left. After taking a few family photos, Mini Me and
her grandma wandered off to find our first ride of the day: Island in the Sky. We loved the 360° view of LEGOLAND Florida
provided by this 150-foot rotating platform. It actually set the pace for our
day at the park allowing us to see which rides we can tackle for the day like
Mini Me’s first roller coaster.
You’re not a true rollercoaster rider until you’ve ridden on
a wooden one. How fitting was it for Mine Me’s first to be the wooden Coastersaurus.
We all enjoyed riding it as it curved and dipped in and around a prehistoric
jungle of animated and life-sized LEGO® brick dinosaurs. Mini Me, after riding
this wooden beast exclaimed, “I’m brave!” followed by “I want to ride it
again!” Being the roller coaster junkies that we are, we obliged; however,
grandma decided to opt-out of bumpy rollercoasters from here on out.
The Beauty and the Bump family love to travel. Imagine our
excitement as we walked through Miniland.
This attraction is located at the center of LEGOLAND Florida offering
visitors to the park an opportunity to explore miniature versions of famous
sites and cities across the United States.
During this visit we stopped by the
White House where President Obama and family greeted us on the steps. We went
to Vegas, California, and even back to our home, New York City. Can you imagine how tired we were after
visiting all of those places in a little over an hour? Whew! I’m tired just
thinking about it. ..

At least one third of Miniland is devoted to the state of
Florida itself, highlighting Miami Beach, Key West, Tampa, Daytona Speedway
where we all raced some cars, and Kennedy Space Center. Miniland is truly awesome in itself. We could have spent hours admiring each model,
but there was more to see and do.

Other rides we enjoyed were
- Beetle Bounce
- Project X (rollercoaster)
- AQUAZONE® Wave Racer
- The Grand Carousel
- Safari Trek
- Boating School
- Lost Kingdom Adventure

LEGOLAND Florida is huge! I don’t think we realized it until
we got there, and as the day wound down, we realized there was so much more to
be seen, but we had to go back home. Plus, we still have to visit the water park.
It wasn’t warm enough during our trip. This only means another LEGOLAND Florida
trip is in our future.
Our LEGOLAND Florida experience was amazing! Mini Me was
happy, the husband was happy, and so was grandma. Visiting the LEGOLAND theme park has definitely
changed our perspective on the LEGOLAND brand since our first experience at the
LEGOLAND Discovery Center left us wanting more.
Mini Me loved LEGOLAND Florida so much that she has already planned on
visiting for her 7th birthday. Do you believe that?
We would recommend adding LEGOLAND Florida to your itinerary
during your next visit to the Orlando or Tampa areas. The whole family will
enjoy the interactive LEGO-themed rides and attractions, especially families
with children from as young as 2 years old up to 12, but us older “kids”
enjoyed our time as well.
When planning your fun-filled visit to LEGOLAND Florida be
sure to check out their website for visiting hours and more.
